Happy new year everyone! We finally made it to 2021, thank you Jesus! Needless to say, 2020 was a struggle. I don’t know about you but it almost felt like a movie that we couldn’t really wake up from. I want to take this moment to thank God for getting us through an intense and rigorous year that no one really anticipated to happen. The true blessing is that God did not take His hands off you.
In the beginning of 2020, many pastors and preachers were preaching sermons that this is the year of “20/20 Vision” and even though I’m pretty sure they didn’t realize the extent of what that meant, they weren’t wrong about it. Last year exposed a lot of people’s hearts and a lot of hidden agendas in politics, so many things. A lot started to come to the surface and everyone had their opinion about them. It really felt like a movie! The crazy thing is that instead of people coming together, there was so much division amongst everyone which is exactly what the enemy wanted.
Regardless of what your opinions are about everything that has happened, from how the Corona virus came about, to presidential election, riots, food shortages, etc., God had a purpose and was and still in full control over everything! What I know for sure, is that this is NOT the time to go back living without having a prayer life. Proverbs 3:6 says, “In ALL your ways, acknowledge Him and He shall direct your PATHS.”
Many of us know this verse but it doesn’t always set in our minds. We start to acknowledge God in some ways but if we assume we got a handle on other ways, we don’t acknowledge Him at all and we don’t even ask Him if it’s something He wants us to do. Proverbs 14:12 states, “there is a way that seems right to a man, but it’s end is the way of death.” What may seem like a good idea may not be a God idea. Sometimes, He might want us to wait for His right timing before we make an impulsive move. God wants to take part of ALL aspects of your life!
As believers, we cannot walk around with the casual prayer life we once had just hoping you make it through the day and praying only for prosperity in your life. God is so much bigger than that! The God I serve and that I know in the Bible is a God of balance. There is a spiritual war going on! Start to love the truth more than you being right and avoid being deceived by the enemy. Pray for truth to be revealed to you! Yes we are in a new year, but the church needs to stand up and come together. It is time to build a stronger prayer life, repent and turn from our ways and seek God in everything that we do. We need a strong relationship with God now more than ever!
“And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of the darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.” Romans 13:11-12
